e.l.f. Eye Lash Curler
($1.00) This innovative eyelash curler has a special curved design which angles to suit all eye shapes. Its silicone rubber pad applies the appropriate amount of pressure to curl lashes naturally and allows for damage-free heating. Get long-lasting curled lashes both easily and safely. Add a swipe of
e.l.f. Water & Earth Mascara and curled lashes remain in perfect shape all day.
How-to use eye lash curler:
Align rubber pad at base of upper lashes. Press handles together and hold for several seconds. Gently release and remove curler from lashes.
Warning: Use the eyelash curler before applying mascara to avoid damage to lashes. Use with caution. Keep out of reach of children.
My review:
For something that ONLY costs $1, it curls my lashes well. I have stick-straight, hard to curl lashes and this eye lash curler did the job. It gave my lashes a very nice, natural curl without breaking my lashes or pinching my eyelid. The curved design fits my eye nicely, and the rubber pads are easy to clean.
However, this eye lash curler does have its flaws. The spring in the handle keeps the handles wide open and it makes the eye lash curler bulky and hard to store. Also, sometimes when I curl my lashes theirs a gap between my lashes and it looks like my lashes are divided into two sections or that I have no lashes in the middle, but luckily, that can easily be fixed with mascara.
Overall, this is a great product with a great price.
Stila Smoky Eye Palette – Original ($40) Here’s the palette that took the beauty business by storm! Stila’s groundbreaking ORIGINAL talking palette taught the world how to create the perfect smoky eye.
How does it work? It’s simple – just push the button and the palette literally talks you through 5 easy steps to the perfect smoky eye. It’s complete with artistry tips and what brushes to use – all in under a minute.

Steps to create a perfect smoky eye:
- Apply the base color by using your base brush to wash color over the entire eye area.
- Now apply the lid color by using your lid brush, defining the eyelid up into the crease and lightly under the eye.
- Next, apply the crease color using the same brush to contour an arc into the crease. Remember to blend well to avoid edges.
- Finally, the liner color: using the liner brush, smudge the outside corner of the eye, then the top and bottom of the lash line. To intensify, use brush damp.
- Finish with Stila’s onyx kajal liner and major lash mascara in black.

The palette includes four shades: an icy champagne as the base, shade slate that is silvery gray for the lid, shade kettle that is dark gray as the contour and shade ebony that is smoky black brown as the liner.
My review:
I love the concept of this palette. It comes with easy-to-follow, step by step audio instructions that make creating a smoky eye fast and easy.
The colors are sheer but you can add more product to get a darker smoky eye effect. However, when I tried to build up more color with layering, I had way too much fall out (definitely not a good thing). My cheeks were covered in eye shadow and it frustrates me when I have to fix my face makeup after it was already nicely done. Also, these eye shadows aren’t very long lasting, but don’t worry that can be fixed with a little eye primer.
Overall, I have a like/dislike relationship with this palette. I mean, this eyeshadow palette is perfect for day-wear but this being a “smoky eye” palette, I assumed the colors would be a lot darker so I was a little disappointed when they weren’t. But I still love the color combination, they’re VERY nice shades. I especially like the base shadow in icy champagne, I use it all the time.
Maybelline Great Lash Curved Brush Washable Mascara

- Lash-Doubling Formula glides on smooth to build great-looking, smudge-proof lashes.
- Custom curved brush lifts and curls each lash
- Washable; also available in waterproof formula and washable without curved brush.
For best results:
Apply mascara from your outer lash to inner lash, sweeping brush slowly from root to tip. Do not let dry between coats. Removes easily with Maybelline Expert Eyes 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover.
In a nutshell:
It doesn’t clump. It doesn’t dry out my lashes and it doesn’t make lashes look spidery. The curved brush does give lashes a little lift but nothing too noticeable. It’s more of a natural effect. Also, after a few hours of wearing this mascara, I had black smudges under my eyes.
Overall, this is an okay mascara but it is definitely NOT the best. This product being Americas #1 mascara, I guess I was expecting something amazing and extra dramatic and not something so natural and subtle.
