The Inspiration:

This Halloween, I’m going to dress up as a Sylvia Ji-inspired Dia de los Muertos girl (a.k.a. La Catrina)! It’s a great halloween look and best of all, you can make it look sexy instead of scary! :)

The look:

For this look, you can wear just about anything you want. You can wear a traditional Mexican dress, a wedding gown, a Victorian dress or something sexy. I like the pin-up look so I will be wearing a black corset and a black, long pencil skirt.

You can match your outfit with a pretty hat,  a veil, or flowers in your hair. I’m not a hat person so I will decorate my hair with flowers. I’m still debating on what color to use. I’m thinking black or red roses.

The Makeup:

For the makeup look, you will need white makeup and a few bold colors to create the designs around your face. During Halloween season, you can get a makeup kit from any Halloween store, Target, Wal-mart or any other place that sells costume stuff. These kits usually always come with white, black and red creme colors, however, the quality might not be the best. Also, you will need makeup brushes, use the brushes you already own or pick up a few at Micheal’s.

Or you can skip the makeup brushes all together and use different shades of eyeliners or lip liner. If you are new to makeup application I highly recommend you use makeup pencils, they’re easier to control then makeup brushes.

Optional:

Add rhinestones and false lashes!
